How to start a random video chat on Yovo
From a camera preview to your first match: start without signing up, choose a country preference and control your conversation.
Last updated 15 October 2026
Start your first conversation
- Open Yovo video chat in your browser. You need a working camera, microphone and internet connection. There is no registration or app download.
- If you want to preview your picture, select Check camera in your video window. Allow camera and microphone access when your browser asks. This starts your preview without looking for a match; it does not play your voice back to you.
- Leave the country preference on All countries, or choose a country you would like to prioritise.
- Select Start chatting. Before your first conversation, confirm that you are at least 18 and accept the guidelines, then select Turn on camera & start. Allow device access if your browser still asks.
- Wait for a connection. When someone appears, say hello and check that you can hear each other. The wait depends on who is available.
If your camera will not start or only one person can hear the other, follow the camera and microphone troubleshooting guide.
Understand your country preference
All countries searches across countries without giving priority to your own location or browser languages. The other participant’s preferences still count.
A selected country is a preference, not a strict filter. Available people from that country receive priority, followed by people with compatible languages. Your language profile uses your own browser preferences and languages common in your approximate IP country. Browser preferences carry more weight than an assumption based on country.
For example, if you are in Ukraine and choose Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan takes priority while your own language profile stays the same. The flag in a video window shows the participant’s approximate country by IP. A VPN can change it; it does not verify citizenship or spoken language.
To change your country preference during a search or conversation, select Stop, choose a new option and start again. Moving to the next person keeps your preference.
Move on, send a message or stop
- Next person ends the current conversation and searches for someone else. Your camera and microphone keep their current settings.
- Stop ends the conversation or search and releases your camera and microphone. It also turns off a camera preview.
- The microphone icon in your video window mutes or unmutes your voice. The camera icon controls video separately: turning the camera off does not mute your microphone.
- The message field lets you write to your current match once connected. On smaller screens, use Messages to open it. Messages disappear from your screen when you move on; see Privacy & data for retention details.
Use random video chat on your phone
Open Yovo directly in your mobile browser. In Stacked view, your match is above your camera. In Overlay view, your own preview is a small window over your match’s video. Switching layouts changes the arrangement without ending your conversation.
Keep the page open while chatting. If sound stops after a phone call, switching apps or connecting headphones, return to Yovo and check for a microphone warning. If Enable video and sound appears, tap it.
Report a rule violation
Select the Report flag in your match’s video window before moving on or stopping. Choose a reason and send the report. This ends the conversation and searches for someone new; a moderator reviews the report.
Yovo is for adults aged 18 and over. Keep your address, passwords and payment details private. Read the community guidelines and privacy information before your first chat.
